Lynx Information Systems SetRmt Version 3.0
A "dongle" is a hardware device plugged into a PC, as an alternative to a licence file, to enable Lynx programs to run on any of a licensee's PCs. Originally, Lynx only provided dongles for the PC's parallel port, but we now supply a USB type dongle as well.
The Set Remote form will "patch", i.e. modify, a dongle
- to reset the expiry date
- to licence new programs in the dongle
- to reset the dongle trace counter (parallel dongles only)
- to upgrade an old 3-S MSDOS type 2 parallel dongle to type 3
IMPORTANT
Before running Set Remote, you must obtain the necessary licence file from Lynx. This file contains the information necessary to update your dongle. The licence file will only work for a specific dongle number and type. The file will have the extension .lnx and is similar to a standard Lynx licence file.
- Insert the dongle to be updated in the parallel or USB port
- Open the Set Remote form by clicking on System|Reset Lynx Licence Dongle in the LEACfg program main menu.
- Press the "Load" button and select the licence file provided to you by Lynx for your dongle
- Press the "Set" button to apply the data in the licence file to the dongle.
- The display will update to show the status of the dongle
return code=0 for successful update
return code = 2 The dongle could not be recognised - there may be a hardware or installation problem, or the dongle is not plugged in. Close the Set remote window, plug in the dongle and try again.
return code = 3 The dongle serial number did not match that in the licence file. Check the serial number on the dongle and contact Lynx.
return code = 4 When setting the dongle count, the block number was not as expected (parallel port counting dongles only)
